Dubai is one of the world’s most dynamic and energetic cities. With many of the buildings scaling enormous heights, it is a place where the modern world meets with the ancient one. Skyscrapers mingle with the souk markets down below. At the center of it all is the luxurious and well-appointed Shangri La hotel. If this isn’t the most romantic place to propose, I can’t name another.

High above the streets and positioned with magnificent views of the Burj Khalifa and the Arabian Sea, the 42nd floor of the Shangri La is the most romantic place to make a truly extraordinary proposal. Recently, one such proposal was done. I have the pleasure of sharing that incredible story with you.

The story

Peter had the idea of proposing to his girlfriend by taking it slow. As he did, he and his beloved danced and held hands all along the perimeter of the renowned 42nd-floor balcony. The evening sun was setting low and while there were telltale rose petals of red interspersed with white candles in a heart shape on the floor at their feet, his girlfriend didn’t suspect much. She was too breath taken by the view surrounding them both. She only wanted to hold him closer so they could share the moment.

A bouquet of red and white roses remained close by. It took Peter some time to get down on one knee to propose. He wanted to take in the marvelous view with her, too. Eventually, he gave in and did what he intended to do all along.

It was a moment the two of them will never forget. His girlfriend never noticed the box Peter held behind his back containing the ring. She was taken by complete surprise when he knelt as the shadows began growing longer and reflecting the setting sun against the surrounding skyscrapers. Of course, she said yes! It was a world-class proposal at a world-class hotel.
